Queen's Tandoor, Jakarta

Last night, I had a very pleasant dinner experience with my expatriate colleagues at Queen's Tandoor. We really enjoyed the taste of the food and the service was so excellent.
I believe every Indian food lover would know about Queen's Tandoor which serves traditional and fusion Indian food. It was first established in Seminyak Bali in 1986 then over the years, it has been establishing a string of franchise in Jakarta, Bali, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. The restaurant has garnered numerous awards including "Best Indian Restaurant".

  1. Mmm, I'm craving some good Indian food now. I'm amused by the brownie though. It seems kind of...out of place?

  2. mica: Hahaha.. it's definitely a different way of serving. The waiter put the brownies with the ice cream first on the hot sizzling plate then when they served on the table, they pour the chocolate sauce which caused smokes and bubble of the chocolate sauce. It's delicious!

  3. Sizzling brownies is a very popular and common dessert here. Indians love it, that's why the inclusion. The spicy vegetable curry could be either Vegetable Makhanwala or Veg Kadai. Hmm me not sure though. Batter fried vegetables is called Pakodas here. Masala tea doesn't have rare spices, it's usually a powdered mixture of cardomom seeds, cinnamon, dried ginger, black pepper pods (optional), a clove and nutmeg. When I make masala chai, I add a mixture of grated fresh ginger, cardomom seeds, cinnamon and one clove if I have a bad throat.

Which was your favourite dish Selby?

  4. laveena: Good to know that we were able to try the sizzling brownies. It tasted very good!
Oh.. so the masala tea doesn't have rare spices? it's written in the menu though, hahaha.. For me, it has a very unique taste. I even said to my colleague that if the masala tea is served with salt, I think it will taste like a herb soup ;)

My favorites during that night were the mixed herb naan, mutton sashi korma, matka briyani and of course, the sizzling brownies :)
